Our Commitment to Child Safety
St Benedict's Catholic Community holds the care, safety and wellbeing of children as a fundamental responsibility of the Church. This commitment is drawn from, and inherent to, the teaching and mission of Jesus Christ, with love, justice and the dignity of each human person at the heart of the Gospel. A culture of safety within the Church ensures that children can actively and fully participate in the life of the Church and realise their potential in a faith community.
This commitment extends to clergy, employees and volunteers within the St Benedict's Catholic Community, regardless of their role or level of responsibility to act to safeguard children and young people from child abuse.
We are committed to upholding the safety and dignity of each child and young person and ensuring that they are able to grow and develop in a caring and supportive environment in our Church.
Reporting a child safety concern or complaint
Our Parish takes all allegations seriously and have appointed a parishioner who works in the area of policy with the specific responsibility for responding to any complains made by staff, volunteers parents or children. You can contact our parish office on (03) 9808 2492. You can also contact the Catholic Professional Standards Office directly (see button below) or call the police.
Risk management
We undergo regular risk assessments for all our activities to ensure that we provide a place that is safe for all children and vulnerable people.
You can find our policies and other helpful information below. There is also an opportunity to provide feedback about any concerns or ideas regarding child safety in our Parish.
